Our managing editor

J. R. Grimes is the Research Director of The Ibesian Centre, where he is focused on research into the relationship between Energetics, Persistence, and Intelligence. He is also the founder and managing editor of The Ibesian. An independent scholar and theorist, Grimes might be described as a curator of patterns and patterns of patterns, a perspective shaped by his autistic cognition and lifelong inclination toward deep structural insight. His work integrates humanistic inquiry with research into the energetic principles that govern the behavior, endurance, and organization of complex systems.

At The Ibesian Centre, Grimes heads a research program focused on how energy, dissipation, and temporal structure interact to influence persistence, adaptation, and the emergence of intelligence across physical, biological, and cognitive domains. His interest in these questions grows from a broader fascination with the hidden architectures—both material and conceptual—that shape systems across scales.
